TWO UNIQUE EXPRESSIONS FROM A SINGLE CASK OF MACALLAN, DISTILLED IN 1989.
The spirit spent its entire life in a single refill bourbon hogshead. We then split the cask and finished one half in a Rivesaltes desert wine cask and the other in a Barbados rum cask, before bottling them as a pair.
Sometimes you have to be bold.
We are a young, forward thinking company and the idea of releasing another Macallan finished in Oloroso didn’t interest us, so we split the cask and racked the spirit into two unique finishing casks, a Rivesaltes bloodtub and a Barbados rum bloodtub.
When the time and balance was right we decanted and bottled both expressions side by side, creating a comparative set or two standalone unique whiskies.
A single continuous artwork runs across both bottles, the labels mirroring each other to form one complete image when displayed together.
Every detail was considered and finished by hand.
What we have created are two distinct single malts with a common ancestry.
BARBADOS RUM
FINISH
The rum finish expression. Dark, settled, and generous, with the weight and confidence that only three and a half decades of patient maturation can produce.
NOSE
Toasted coconut, molasses, and sultana. Warm and immediate, with real depth underneath.
finish
Long and dry. Leather, tobacco, and a clean prickle of black pepper. Stays with you.
PALETTE
Dark fruit, charred oak, and orange peel over a deep base of vanilla and integrated wood. Confident and precisely balanced.

The Rivesaltes finish expression. Honeyed, layered, and contemplative, with the quiet complexity of a whisky that has been given exactly the time and care it deserved.
NOSE
Preserved marmalade, honey, and dried apricot, with a gentle thread of sweet spice.
Calm and deeply inviting.
finish
Long and elegant. Sweet spice, toasted oak, and dried orange peel, fading gently long after the glass is set down.
PALETTE
Candied orange peel and warm baking spices over a waxy, settled base. Builds slowly and keeps giving, the hallmark of old malt handled with patience and confidence.

The gift boxes were developed with an Edinburgh based packaging company, featuring felt lining, a textured outer, and our signature ridge on the lid carrying the Pentland Hills skyline as seen from Arthur’s Seat.
We developed a reversed cut out label so one image could be reflected across both bottles, the labels mirroring each other and forming a continuous artwork as a pair.
