A single cask of Glen Garioch, fully matured in Oloroso sherry.
The second oldest whisky in this Outturn and a fine example of why this distillery has such a loyal following. First seventeen years in one Oloroso cask, then re-racked into another for the final year.
It was fine before, but much better after.
“Eighteen years has given it a rich orange colour and a deep, waxy character, honey and beeswax over orange rind, with a long dry finish.”
NOSE
Quince and red apple skin. Honey, beeswax and orange blossom, with a lanolin waxiness. Toasted herbs and a whisper of charred pine.
finish
Long and dry, closing on a bitter orange amaro note that holds on.
PALETTE
Bergamot, orange rind and honey, oily and textured. Polenta cake with orange marmalade.
